Elderly Care Project 2017

Age UK have recently published results of a research they conducted.
It showed that half a million people over the age of 60 usually go at least five or six days a week without seeing or speaking to anyone at all!

This once again shows how important it is for us all as community to make sure our elderly don’t feel lonely and get regular visits.

The Elderly Care Project (ECP) is one of IDC North Easts longest running Community Welfare Projects. After realising the Elderly were being neglected in the society we live in today and the shocking facts about elderly people dying in the winter as they could not stay warm, we decided to do something about it.

Our Community Welfare Team regularly visits the elderly at their centres. At the start of each month we visit a centre in Greater Walker, where our team has been visiting for the last couple of years.

This project is ever-expanding, with monthly visits to an elderly care home in Whitley Bay now added in 2017 and the Teesside visits now also established on a monthly basis.
